I would like to copy the firstname field in contacts to the nickname field - automatically when I create a new contact.

This field is used when I email contacts to personalize the message. I have to manually edit the nickname field when I do not have a first name and only an initial. So then the nickname field would be e.g. "Mr Smith".

So is this a good application of scripting, one would need to be able to have conditional statements and copy / change data between fields?
