Hi,

I worked really hard on this report. I think it looks pretty good although I'm not a designer and I'm sure it could be improved. There's lots of scripting in there. It was pretty tricky to get the organization time total.

I thought I would share it with the Daylite community to make this program better.

Please let me know if you find any problems. There's at least one problem that I know of. If you enable the display of the task details, you can get the task details running along to the next page and overlapping some text. Not sure yet how to correct that. It doesn't happen if you run the report with just the task titles showing.

You can download the Projects & Tasks by Organization Report here.

Thanks,

Brendan

This is exactly what I've been looking for. But it crashes Daylite every time I try to run it. Any tips? -- Andy

Yes, sorry about that. I found that every Project MUST have an organization linked to it for this to work. Try that and see if it helps. Even one project without a linked organization will cause it to crash. I'll eventually get around to fixing that.

Sorry,

Brendan.

I made sure all of my projects have organizations linked, but they're still crashing. Am I supposed to run the report from the print menu? I can't figure out any other way. -- Andy

Hmm... Is there any output in the Console log? That might help me figure out what's going wrong in your situation.

You access the report from the Reports menu, not the Print menu.

The report doesn't show up in the reports menu. I put it in:

user > library > application support > daylite > templates

Should I put it somewhere else?

I don't know how to find the console log, either.

Did you unzip it first?

Run the Console program in your Utilities folder. It may dump something out there telling you what's going wrong.

Thanks for all of your help. smile
I did unzip the report -- I put it in the folder I mentioned and it shows up in the print layouts. But not in the reports.

I have no idea what the log information is about. If it's of any help, here's some stuff I found about Daylite.

Hi Andy,

That screen shot you posted looks like the Reports section and not the Print Layout section.

I think the problem may be you don't have any Project keywords defined in your database. This line gives it away I think: "User Input Got not objects to construct popup"

The report generates a pop-up list of project keywords that you select from to filter the projects by. In our situation we have a "Billable" and "Non-Billable" keyword we assign to each project. After you select a keyword and click the Run button, the report uses the selected keyword to filter the projects.

Do you have any keywords defined in your database?

I put the Reports screen shot up becuase I can't get the layout to show up there (but it shows up in the Print Layout. When I opened the report from the Application Support folder and hit "preview" it still crashed -- even after I added a keyword to each of my projects. (This stuff is why I never recommend Daylite). frowne

Maybe I posted the wrong file or something because none of that happens for me. Are you using Daylite 3.2.1?

It's 3.2 (Build 1092).

Maybe that's the issue. Can you try 3.2.1?

The report shows up in the Reports section for me and does not show up in the Print layouts section.

No luck. After 3.2.1 I still don't see the report. When I ran a preview from the Application Support folder it crashed again. frowne

When I preview the report from the report builder in Daylite, it just tells me it needs user input to run. But it doesn't crash. I'm on an Intel MacBook Pro with OS X 10.4.8. I haven't tried the report on a non-Intel Mac yet though. It makes no sense Daylite would crash like it is for you.

Has anyone else tried this report? Does it work for you?

Sorry you are having so much trouble with it. I've installed it on 2 different machines in the office (an iMac and my MacBook Pro) and both work fine.
