Hi Gang,

Here is a report that was supposed to make into 3.1 but didn't. It should make it in soon (A simpler one did make it in). I figured I would share it here in the meantime.

This report uses the 'User Input' mechanism to ask you for a week, a user and which parts you want (Tasks, Appointments, Notes).

It breaks out the week by day and gives you count for each day as well as a total.

This report is good example of a heavily F-Scripted report. We have a Pre Extraction Script on the Report to figure out the dates. We have F-Script as the Table Filter to get the active categories per type and then we have F-Script in the dynamic text tokens to fetch the stats from the database directly.

It is an intense report and depending on the size of your database, it could be fairly taxing on your server. For single users with small databases, it shouldn't be a problem.

NOTE: This report requires 3.1 - it will crash in 3.0.x.

Download Here

Unzip the report. You can try leave it on the Desktop if you just want to try it or you can move it to Home -> Library -> Application Support -> Daylite -> Templates if you want to keep it.

Then go to Daylite -> File -> Reports -> General and select the Activity Statistics (week SZ).

Note that when we include it in the app, you will get two listing of this report.

This report looks really nice, i am looking for a similar report that tallys up the total time of appointments associated with a project (we use them for time tracking) and displays the hours against each resource/person in a similarly designed table as this.

Any ideas how i get this done in Daylite?

Ohh and also - was wondering if this needs to be on the server or the local mahcine if we arerunning a networked setup?

Just a thought (this may need to be posted in new feature suggestions, I apologize for a misspost), but I just saw this post today, downloaded the template and have come to realize that this template is "close" to what I and I'm sure, many professionals have been looking for. More importantly, anyone who is running a "service" business that needs to track individual clients on a monthly basis, could benefit greatly from this template with just a few simple tweaks (attn : Legal or consulting businesses who would like to use DL as their timetracking software).
In addition to the basics contained in the template, you would need the ability to chose a project or client (in our schema, we don't start billing for time until an opportunity becomes a project), checkboxes/multiple selection capability to include tasks, appts, notes (emails), subtotals of elapsed time for each category and that's about it. Then you could take the subsequent report, manually (for now) enter the subtotals into your accounting program, and use the generated hard copy of the report as detail backup to the subsequent invoice generated in the accounting program. This should work well for those who use Billings, but also has applicability to those who use the Big Two accounting programs for the Mac.
While I do not have the time to personally learn F-Script (I'm too busy running my business), if MC or a preferred partner has any ideas on how this could be included in the Report Template, I'm sure you could bust open a whole new channel of software distribution.

SOOOO fustrating - really appreciate you posting that report AJ BUT it doesn't do the ONE THING many of us are screaming out for which is a report that can be run against a project for hours spent by particular people (ie. appointments by time spent - ideally it would also offer task based)

without the project reporting we CANNOT bill our clients for a specific job. (we manually add it up now which is madness!)Category reporting is useful i imagine for some analysis but it fails to deliver on this vital aspect.

We needed to make a fix for that to work and I think the engineers did it for 3.2. So I'll see what I can do for you on that (after Macworld).

hello,

what would be a blast would be to be able to see how much time was spent per project per week.

is that somehow possible?

thanks, patrick

Hi

I was just wondering if "Deskimo's" and "Patrick Leypold's" requests had been addressed for a report that can display total time spent on a project through tasks completed.

If someone could let me know if this exists, it would be most appreciated. Thanks.

Michelle

Well color me happy (and a bit embarrassed)! I found what I'd been looking for in the Share forum. (Too quick on the gun my last post was.)

The only thing I didn't like was that the time was calculated in seconds, but there's no problem in changing that. Task time by User report Here's the one I found with my slight change.

Hi the link in your post:

"The only thing I didn't like was that the time was calculated in seconds, but there's no problem in changing that. Task time by User report Here's the one I found with my slight change."

returns a 404 error. Could you possibly help me out as the report you mention is exactly what I am looking for?

Ah! Of course you get an 404 error. I was cleaning out my download folder and had forgotten what this was smile

I'll put it back up today. Sorry for the inconvenience.
